Safe, effective and environmentally conscious chemical cleaning


Our acid and caustic treatments use fit-for-purpose blends circulated through your system to clean and remove foulant. Using advanced laboratory equipment, we design the right blend to address your specific needs and maximize treatment effectiveness.


Using high-powered, innovative jet nozzle technology, our rotary tank cleaning machines combine pressure and flow to get the job done right. Tank contaminants are blasted from the surface by a concentrated stream; while at the same time, nozzles engineered to rotate in a 360° pattern ensure full-coverage cleaning. 

Lube Oil Flushing

Using high velocity circulation, Blackstone Pipeline removes unwanted contaminants from lube and hydraulic system piping. This prevents damage to small rotating equipment parts such as bearings, hydraulic controls and instrumentation. Oil is heated and circulated through the piping and then filtered to extract and collect particulate, with filtration as fine as 1 micron.

Surface Passivation

Passivation of steels is a post-fabrication process with the end goal of making surfaces more passive and corrosion resistant. This is done by restoring the surface to its original characteristics with protective oxide film.

Foam cleaning gives you the results of a comprehensive chemical clean, without a chemical unit on-site. Used for aerial coolers, Our Blackstone Pipeline experts use an eco-friendly foam, for aerial coolers. It’s applied to  the units and then rinsed away. The result is an effective clean, with no large equipment required.

Our foam cleaning technology uses environmentally friendly chemical foam that saturates and expands into every crevice of the heat exchanger. This “green” certified, biodegradable product can go to ground even when containment is required.


Dirty fin fans can reduce the cooling efficiency of heat exchangers. Our low pressure, high volume cleaning process removes dirt and debris safely and thoroughly.


Clean exchangers result in less energy requirements, allowing fans to be turned off or run more slowly. This extends the life of the equipment, enabling production to be increased where cooling has been detrimental to output.


Traditional hydroblasting methods can damage delicate fin fans and compact debris into the centre of the tube stack. Our process completely removes dirt, debris and corrosive elements without damaging equipment.


Blackstone Pipeline provide’s portable liquid filtration to a 5 micron particle size. This can be used to recover water from hydrotesting procedures, so that it can be returned to containment ponds or natural sources. We also provide water testing services to ensure water meets the required criterion following filtration.

In-Situ Exchanger Cleaning

Our in-situ exchanger cleaning services connect to your heat exchanger using hoses or a combination of hoses and hard piping to circulate fit-for-purpose chemistry. This chemical blend has the capacity to clean shell side, tube side, or both, and can be tailored to meet your specific needs based on the type of foulant (scale or hydrocarbon) being cleaned.

Vapour Phase

Blackstone Pipeline’s vapour phase cleaning services can be used to remove difficult deposits and debris in tanks, pipelines and process vessels. Stuck-on particles are loosened by injecting steam at 380°C (716°F) with chemistry. As the deposits become more viscous, they settle to the bottom of the vessel where they can be drained. Additionally, the steam can lower the concentration of volatile gases under the explosive limit (LEL) by diluting the environment.

Using the Conco ProSeries™ Tube Cleaning System, we provide effective cleaning to heat exchanger tubes. This durable, field-proven system has cleaned more than 100 million heat exchanger tubes in power plants and industrial facilities around the world.

This cleaning system uses safe, 200 psi water pressure to drive scrapers through fouled tubes and obstructions in one pass. The scrapers are engineered to clean a range of deposits, including:

  • Waterborne deposits
  • Manganese
  • Iron corrosion products
  • Sediment
  • Crystalline
  • Bio-fouling

Through an exclusive relationship with Conco Systems, Blackstone Pipeline offers a safe and effective solution to tube wall cleaning with the HydroDrill. Blackstone Pipeline’s catalyst handling and support service provides a safe and effective method for catalyst management. Using nitrogen, our experts create an inert environment that allows work to be completed safely for optimized facility performance. 

Heat Icon

After a facility shutdown, hot stripping uses nitrogen to burn off any residual hydrocarbons remaining in the system, while heating uses nitrogen to warm-up reactors, furnaces and turbines. Leak detection, both onshore and offshore, can cost time and money and create significant safety hazards-including flash fires or sour gas leaks. Detecting and eliminating leaks is critical to successful operations and is done as part of commissioning and start-up procedures.

Helium Leak Testing is used in:

Gas plants
Compressor stations
Chemical plants
Offshore platforms

Helium leak testing helps find small leaks with inert, non-volatile compounds. A mixture of nitrogen and helium (usually 1%) is injected into the system. Each joint, valve, and connection are taped, following which a detector is used to probe each connection to determine if a leak exists. If leaks are found in the system, the pressure is bled off, the connection is repaired, and the process is repeated until all leaks are eliminated. This practice reduces oxygen concentrations and leaves an inert blanket of nitrogen in the system. Additionally, this method of testing can help discover other issues, and can be used to simulate operational situations. 


Pipelines and operational facilities often require work to be done on active lines. Freeze plugs provide the ability to isolate a section requiring maintenance instead of purging the entire line.

Using a “jacket” injected with liquid nitrogen we are able to create a freeze plug that isolates part of the line. Freeze plugs can also be used to locate small leaks during hydrotesting by reducing the length of pipeline by half with every isolation.

Blanketing uses nitrogen to fill the space in storage tanks containing flammable liquids or solids. By replacing the air in the vessel with an inert gas like nitrogen, hazards from combustible materials can be prevented. Nitrogen inerting is a technique that provides a safe working environment for carrying out hot work maintenance in the presence of hydrocarbons. Nitrogen inerting is fast, reliable, cost-effective, and eliminates the risk of hydrocarbon explosions.


Testing a facility’s mechanical integrity prior to use is fundamental to maintaining safe and effective operations. Blackstone Pipeline provides thorough and reliable pneumatic pressure testing services using data acquisition and analysis to provide accurate results that exceed the requirements for certification.
